CITIES DECORATED WITH THE ORDER OF THE TOWER AND SWORD, VALOUR, LOYALTY AND MERIT
ANGRA DO HEROISMO (Azores Islands)
After the Civil War, in 1837, the City of Angra (Azores Islands) by Royal Charter added to its name The Very Noble, Loyal and Always Constant City of Angra do Heroismo, for services rendered during the Civil War.
Also in 1837 was awarded the Grand Cross of the Reformed Order of the Tower and Sword, Valour, Loyalty and Merit and a new coat of arms.

Grand Cross of the Order of the Tower and Sword (Decree April 3, 1833, in C.C.P. 82 / 1833)4 April 1833, by D. Pedro, duke of Braganza, during the Civil War rewarding the City’s fidelity to the Queen’s cause. It was also determined that the queen would use the title of Duchess of Oporto.
